Description

Stainless steel grade 410 s are martensitic steels, which are resistant to harsh elements such as acids, alkalis, hot gases, steam, food, and dry air. Their good heat and corrosion resistance properties are due to hardening.

They can be hardened by quenching and tempering over the range of 35-39 RC.

Generally, 410 steel can be welded using all conventional welding techniques. However, before the welding, the materials ought to be pre-heated at 150 to 260 °C, followed by annealing treatment in order to mitigate cracking.

FAQs

  • Is Stainless Steel 410 resistant to heat?

Yes, it has good scaling resistance at temperatures of up to 650 °C. However, its mechanical properties reduce at temperatures ranging above 400 °C.

  • Is 410 stainless steel machinable?

yes, it can be easily machined in highly tempered or annealed conditions, provided it is not hardened above 30HRC
